The house edge on a column bet is around 7%. The chances of your number falling within a column of 12,18 or third of the wheel is around 1 in 3. However the payout is only 2:1 so you must weigh up the lower odds with the lower return. Personally I prefer betting on a single number, the odds are worse at 35:1 but the payout is bigger at 36:1 if you win. The choice is yours, let fate decide!
