Chelsea will have to make a decision whether to recall Mateo Kovacic. They have a choice of also fielding Jorginho or Denis Zakaria. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is back on training and could be on the bench. Manchester City have some pleasant selection decisions to make. Julian Alvarez came on a sub at Everton and could start this game. Then again, so could Joao Cancelo. Guardiola also has Kalvin Phillips in contention after feeling better about his physique now back in training. Some of those named are more likely to feature in the January 8 FA Cup tie between these two clubs than in this Premier League match.

I predict Manchester City to win this game even when they make use of their fringe players because their squad is stacked enough to afford them that luxury as compared to Chelsea who are in a rut, to say the least.
