When the motivation just ain’t there, I look to shake things up a bit. Maybe I move to a different table with fresher faces whose tell’s I can work on picking up. Or I switch to a different game altogether, like stud or draw or crazy pineapple. A new game exposes me to some different types of players and gives me a chance to make new reads.
Sometimes a walk around the casino floor will spark new inspiration. Could be I see someone crushing at a high limit table and it stokes my competitive fire. Could be I spot an interesting new player at a lower game I haven’t tried my luck at yet. New scenery is all I need to get a new outlook.
The key is not to dwell on why I’m unmotivated. That rabbit hole only leads to worry and doubt. So I make a change to shake off that slump and find my game again. The action’s always moving in Vegas, so I move with it. Motivation comes and goes, but there’s always a new poker hand to be played.
