In a poker game, the term "bubble" refers to the point in a tournament where the next player to be eliminated will not receive any winnings or payouts . This usually occurs when there are a few players left before reaching the money places. For example, if a tournament pays out to the top 50 players and there are 53 remaining players, the next player to be eliminated is said to be "on the bubble". The remaining players have all cashed in the tournament and will receive a payout. The bubble is considered a critical stage in a poker tournament, as players will often become more cautious and conservative with their play in order to avoid being the next player eliminated
