The chip is the bankroll and whenever you want to bet on at the poker table, the poker dealer will exchange your money for the chips. For instance, if you are betting $500 , you will be given the chip equivalent to $500 to wager. This is my understanding of the chip that is used at the poker table and I don't know if there is any other meaning that is attached to the chip, I will love the members of this forum to explain more.

I think that the chip represent money because you cannot place a physical cash on the table, you will need to exchange the cash with the chip and there's a chip that is used in exchange of the money to place a bet at the poker table.

To be honest with you bro I don't know what chip means I have seen it on many casino website I reviewed where they promised $200 chip but I still don't get what it's used for I will like if someone tells me.

The chip is the money that is used to wager at the poker table. Once you want to play, you would place your cash and the poker dealer will exchange the cash with the equivalent of the chip, you are going to be betting with the chip and not the real cash.
