In poker, trips refers to a three-of-a-kind hand. To make trips, a player needs to have a pair in their hand and one of the same rank on the board. If more than one player has trips, the player with the higher three-of-a-kind wins the pot. In Ultimate Texas Hold'em, a special Trips bet can be made which pays out if the player has trips or better. This bet is completely separate from the main game and is made before any cards are dealt. The payouts for the Trips bet vary depending on the rank of the three-of-a-kind, with higher ranks paying out more.
