What if I get a 5 on the flop but someone else bets big?

In most cases I fold when I hit a small pair like 55 on the flop and someone bets big. Unless the player betting big has shown some weak betting patterns before, I assume they have hit something bigger than my pair of 5s on the flop and I save my chips by folding. What do you experts think, is there any situation where I should call a big bet on the flop with just a pair of 5s? Let me know your opinions.
