A backdoor draw in poker is a type of hand that requires consecutive cards on the turn and river to improve to a strong made hand. It is sometimes also called a runner-runner draw. For example, if a player has three cards to a flush on the flop but is missing two cards to complete the flush, they can potentially make a backdoor flush draw by hitting the two remaining necessary cards on the turn and river. Backdoor draws are generally considered to have limited value and are often used to justify a bluff or a float.

In contrast to a standard draw, which only needs one card to finish, a backdoor draw needs two particular cards to appear on the turn and river in order to finish the desired hand. Because they are not the main emphasis of your hand, backdoor draws are less noticeable to you and your opponents.

A backdoor draw is a poker hand that needs to catch two cards on the turn and river to become a strong made hand. It is also known as a runner-runner draw. For example, if you have 8-9 of hearts on a flop of 7-5-3 of mixed suits, you have a backdoor flush draw because you need two more hearts to make a flush. You also have a backdoor straight draw because you could hit a 10 or a jack to make a straight.
