A post-oak bluff is a type of bluff in no-limit or pot-limit poker where a player makes a very small bet relative to the size of the already-existing pot. The idea behind this strategy is to suggest to opponents that the player has a strong hand and wants to be called, but in reality, the player may have a weak hand or no hand at all. The name likely comes from the fact that post oak trees are common in Texas, where the strategy is said to have originated.
