What is a sucker bet?

A sucker bet in roulette is a bet that has a high potential payout, usually on a low bet but with a high house edge. Sucker bets typically have a low probability of winning, and the potential payout is often used to lure players into making the bet. In roulette, examples of sucker bets include the basket bet (a bet on 0, 1, 2, and 3), the top line bet (a bet on 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3), and the snake bet (a zig-zagging bet covering 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32, and 34). These bets have high payouts, but also high house edges, making them unlikely to win in the long run. It is generally recommended to avoid sucker bets and focus on bets with better odds of winning.

That's absolutely correct! Sucker bets are designed to look tempting by offering high payouts, but in reality, they are not profitable in the long run. It is essential to note that the low probability of winning and the high house edge make these bets disadvantageous for players. In the case of roulette, the standard inside bets such as Red/Black, Even/Odd, and High/Low have better odds of winning, albeit with lower payouts. In general, players should look for bets with a low house edge to maximize their chances of winning.

This is a type of bet that is attractive but it is not going to give you reasonable turnover or winnings that means that it has a low payout potential when compared to other bets but it is very attractive at a glance.

Just read through this thread on sucker bets and had to chime in. Sounds like some folks have had some rough beats at the tables over the years dealing with those sucker bets! I’ve been lucky enough to avoid most pitfalls, but I hear stories. Gambling is always risky, even when the odds seem in your favor. The house ultimately always has the edge in the long run.

Men!, I alway run away from any bet that looks like sucker bet. No matter the amount of payout, I don't dare it. Sucker bets are not promising. They have high risk in losing. They are always designed in favour of the in-house. Chances of winning sucker bet is slim. Therefore, run away from it.

Without any element of skill or technique that the bettor could use to increase their odds of winning, fool bets frequently rely only on luck or chance. Because they have no influence over the outcome, this places the bettor at a severe disadvantage.
