In poker, "lowball" or "low poker" refers to a type of poker game where players aim to make the lowest-ranking hand possible. The goal in this type of poker is to have the least valuable hand and win the pot. There are several variations of lowball poker, but they all involve ranking hands with the lowest valued hand being the best. Some popular variations of lowball include Ace to Five (also known as California Lowball) and Deuce to Seven. In Ace to Five, the best possible hand is A-2-3-4-5, while in Deuce to Seven, the best possible hand is 2-3-4-5-7 with no pairs allowed.

Players are dealt five cards face down when playing lowball, which is essentially a draw game. The goal of the game is to improve your hand by exchanging as many cards as you can for new ones after the first betting round.
