What in poker is a river?
In poker games like Texas Hold'em and Omaha, the river is the fifth and final community card dealt face-up on the table. The flop, which consists of the first three community cards, and the turn, which consists of the fourth community card, are dealt before the third and fourth betting rounds.
The showdown, in which the remaining players disclose their hands to decide who wins the pot, follows the revelation of the river card and the final round of betting. After the river betting round, if more than one player is still in the hand, the pot is won by the person who has the best five-card hand utilizing any combination of their two hole cards and the five community cards.
