What is the difference between lottery and lotto?

Most of the times I always confuse lottery and lotto and use them interchangeably. some of my friends usually mock me for my lack of understanding and ignorance about gamblings. Sometimes I feel left out the conversation and if I ask there are now ready to answer.

I just want you guys to schedule difference between the lottery and lotto for me for better understanding. Thanks in advance.

Maybe we are not in the same shoe, i will also be looking out to some comments here because from the beginning of life, i don't really know that there's a difference between lottery and lotto. I used to type lottery whenever i want to talk about lotto and i also type lotto whenever i want to talk about lottery. They are the same to me

The terms "lottery" and "lotto" are often used interchangeably, but the major difference between the two is that a lottery can be run by a private company, whereas a lotto must be run by a government entity.

I do not have much knowledge on the difference between the two as well for me both are same things and synonymous used for the same quantity and think and that is why you don't need to actually scratch your head for such things
