Three Card Monte and modern poker may look similar at first glance. Both involve cards and betting but there are important differences. Three Card Monte is a confidence trick disguised as a game while poker is a legitimate gambling game. In Three Card Monte, the dealer is looking to deceive players and take their money through sleight of hand and deception,while in poker, all players have equal chance of winning through skill and strategy within the rules of the game. The cards are fairly dealt in poker but are manipulated deceptively in Three Card Monte to ensure the dealer always wins.
