The objective of playing blackjack is to outscore the dealer without exceeding a total card value of 21. In this card game, you are not competing against other players; your primary goal is to beat the dealer. The way to achieve this is by either having a hand value that is higher than the dealer's without going over 21, or by hoping that the dealer busts (exceeds 21).
To elaborate, you begin each round by receiving two cards. You can then choose to "hit" (take another card) or "stand" (keep your current hand). The dealer follows a set of predefined rules, typically hitting until they have a hand value of 17 or higher and standing otherwise. If your hand surpasses 21, you automatically lose the round, regardless of the dealer's hand. If neither you nor the dealer busts, the one with the hand value closest to 21 wins the round.
