What kind of music do you prefer to listen to when you play poker?

When I settle in for a long night of poker, I like to keep the music light and upbeat. Jazz is always a good choice, maybe some Miles Davis or Charlie Parker. The cool tones help me keep a level head while I'm calculating odds in my mind.

Country music works too, some Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash. Their twangy tunes put me in the right gamblin' spirit. Classical might seem fancy, but some piano concertos or violin concertos create nice ambient noise.

Whatever I choose, it's gotta have a good rhythm and flow. Sudden stops or starts might make me twitch at a bad moment. Lyrics are fine as long as they're not too distracting. The ideal poker music is like good whiskey - it's there if you want it, but doesn't interfere with the game. In the end though, the music's just background. My focus is on the cards, the players, and the action.
