What number of playing cards make up a typical poker deck?
There are 52 cards in a typical poker playing card deck. Each of the four suits—hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades—contains 13 cards in the deck. There are two through ten cards in each suit, as well as a jack, queen, king, and ace.
Players are dealt two secret cards, or "hole cards," from the deck in some poker games like Texas Hold'em and Omaha, which they combine with five community cards to make the strongest hand possible. In some games, including Seven-Card Stud, the dealer deals each player a combination of private and community cards from the deck to build a hand.
