What was the reaction of people when they knew that you are into gambling?

There are different ways in which people react to those that are playing casinos and it is very obvious that some individuals do not like to associate with people that are into gambling. They believe that gamblers are not responsible. This is the notion of people in my area and that is why so many gamblers would not want anyone to know that they are into gambling.

I have never tell anyone that I am into gambling because the way the people in my area perceive gamblers are totally different. they would always have the notion that you are not responsible just like what your state in your thread.

Gambling is a legal thing now in Nigeria and no police or security man will arrest you for it but to some families, it's still something of shame. Only my friends that are also into gambling know that I'm a gambler. Most of my families don't really know that I'm gambling.

Since people in my community have such a distinct perception of gamblers, I have never disclosed to anyone that I enjoy playing the slots. As you stated in your thread, they would always believe that you are not accountable. Betting is not something to be made public. It your money that you are using to gamble.

I started playing bets when I was of age and I didn't owe anybody explanation on why I am into gambling. Just that through our my years of gambling, I always didn't let my parents know what I was into till I stopped.

In my country, people perceive the gambling as an indecent business or activities and anyone who engaged in such activity is regarded as an irresponsible person, so it is normal for people to react such a way when they see you playing games.

First thing that used to come to so many people's mind when they know you're into betting is that you're irresponsible person, that's why i prefer online betting, if you're the type that do visit the shop know that people will always criticized you and can have negative impact on you

Up to the time I quit gambling, my parents and close family members didn't know. Those that knew were my friends. And since we always played together, they couldn't say anything but I am sure my parents wouldn't have loved it.

Some of them are going to find it strange and feel somehow if it happens that you find yourself among the religious people. But this may not be the case if you are among those who are minding their business and don't care about what other people are doing with their lives.

I must say that some people were outraged when I told them I was engaging in gambling. Some were also ambivalent about this discourse but they were in the minority overall, and I was not surprised, to be fair

Although some people were actually not too suprised like that after they knew that I was a gambler , so actually saw it as a normal something and others , so it was seen as a norm , but excessive gambling Isnt good

This is definitely good for you. It is a pleasant surprise to hear stories like this regarding people who are open minded towards a venture such as gambling because the vast majority have a negative perception

There is nothing wrong with gambling , but excess of it isn't good , some people gamble because of financial problem , some people gamble because their lives are bored , what I just have in mind is that you should be gambling with precautions ,it's so important

Your assertion is correct. Gamblers should be careful not to let frequent gambling spiral into an addiction, because this is what feeds into the misconceptions that have been peddled by the vast majority of the public.

I think gambling already come with great amount of risks and that's why I actually wonder on what notation that gambler should be gambling , gambling is already a risky venture or something ,gamblers should note this

I agree with this comment. There was definitely mixed reactions when I told people about my willingness to dabble in gambling as a source of additional income, to be quite honest with you.
