The All Black midfielder Anton Lienert-Brown has opened up about his struggles with mental health, using the chance of a World Rugby interview to spread the word about the virtues of vulnerability and other life lessons.
Lienert-Brown said, "I was an 18-year-old, I was a little bit naive. "Looking back, that was a major task." The first play of the game, I believe, was when I made a mistake and immediately withdrew into my shell. In all honesty, I truly believed that my rugby career was likely finished because of how seriously I took that first game and how personally I took it. That was simply my youthful perspecti ve.
