When poker becomes an obsession, it can destroy even the best of friendships and relationships. I have seen it happen too many times. Poker buddies who used to spend weekends together watching football and hanging out now only talk poker and spend all their free time at the casino or online. Spouses start to feel neglected as poker consumes more and more of their partner's time and attention. Arguments arise over money that is gambled and lost instead of spent on family needs. Weekend family activities get cancelled due to poker tournaments. Late night poker games lead to less quality time together and interrupted sleep. As much as I love the game of poker, it must stay in its place. When poker begins dominating your life and drawing you away from loved ones, it's time to put the cards down and reevaluate your priorities before you lose what truly matters.
