The term "nuts" in poker refers to the strongest possible hand. Folks'll say a player is "nut full house" or "nut flush" meanin' they got the best hand possible with those cards.
The word "nuts" come from way back in the early poker days. Story goes that a whiskey-loosened gambler might yell "I'm with the nuts here!" when they played a hand that couldn't be beat. Over time, "the nuts" just stuck as the poker term for the best possible hand at any game. Some games it's a royal flush, other times four of a kind or a straight flush. Whatever it is, when someone's playin' the nuts, they're playin' the best hand in the whole round.
