The likelihood against you is independent of where you sit. I suggest sitting in the middle if you are a newbie because it will allow you a bit more time to choose how to handle your hand. (The first baseman moves first; the third baseman, or perhaps the player in the far left, moves last.) It is ideal to sit near third spot if you are a card station using a conventional counting method so you may view and count quite so many cards as you possibly can before making a move with your hand.
