When it comes to poker cards, there ain't no single best or worst card that's always gonna be the nuts. Hands are tricky to evaluate cuz a lot depends on the situation - your position, who's playing the hand, what's in the pot, all that. But I can give you my perspective on some cards that tend to be on the stronger or weaker end of the spectrum.
Some of the best cards for poker are pairs, connectors, aces and premium face cards. Pairs almost always make a solid starting hand cuz they give you drawing potential to improve into two pair, three of a kind or four of a kind. A hand like 22 is a great one to call a raise with.
Suited connectors, like 78s, JTs or QJs also rock. They connect well enough to make a straight or flush but not so premium that everyone will just automatically call any bet. Plus, connectors work as kickers for a high card or pair. A flush draw is never a bad thing!
Aces also usually crush. They got the highest individual card value, so few players will beat em. The downside is it can be tougher improving aces into the best 5-card hand. But overall, pairs, connectors and aces gotta be near the top of the poker card power rankings.
And you know the cards I'd consider the weakest links? Low cards like 2s through 5s. Their individual value stinks and they require a ton of help to become competitive hands. Gaps between high and low cards of the same suit are also harder to work with, like a Q-7-3 of hearts. Long gaps make flushes and straights trickier to complete.
Non-connecting suits or suits of mixed colors, reds and blacks, also struggle. Without that suit connectivity, you're relying on the community cards with every draw to make a strong 5-card hand. Not the most ideal position to find yourself in!
And low kickers, like a 4-6-8 when paired, just don't provide that extra kick higher kickers of J-Q-K would give you. A four of a kind or full house shouldn't be any harder to improve with a king kicker versus a four kicker.
