Which poker player do you think has been the most influential?

There's only one poker player I'd call truly influential, and that's Doc Holliday. This tubercular gunslinger from the Wild West helped invent the modern game of poker as we know it.

Doc Holliday brought a flair and recklessness to the poker room that's still felt today. He didn't just play the odds, he bet big and dared the other fellas to call. More than one man lost his whole stake going up against Doc. They say he even killed a few, though that may be exaggerated.

Doc represented the ultimate poker player: cunning and calculating as a snake, but willing to put it all on the line with a twist of a card. After him, every gambler wanted to be just as fearless, just as willing to gamble with his life as with his chips. Doc Holliday proved that poker could be a life's work, not just an amusement. His legend has inspired players for generations and will for many more to come. No one's influenced the game itself more than that iconic son of a gun.
