The second round of the Adelaide International features sixth seed Jannik Sinner taking on wild card Thanassi Kokkinakis. The eventual winner of this match advances to the quarterfinals against an unseeded opponent. Sebastian Korda or Roberto Bautista Agut will play in that. In three of his final four competitions of the year, Sinner made at least the quarterfinals. He only won one tournament in 2018 and dropped from his ranking of 10th at the beginning of 2021. He began his 2022 season this week by defeating Kyle Edmond of Great Britain in straight sets, dropping only five games.
