Why do you never split 10s in blackjack?

it is very common to hear most of the people at the blackjack table that there are some certain numbers you should split in order to stand the chance of winning the game. Some go as far as saying that you should avoid splitting the odd numbers.

One of the questions I want to ask you guys over here is that Why do you never split 10s in blackjack? I will be looking forward to your response in the comment section below thanks in advance.
 
It just that if you split the 10s one time, you will have to stand the chances to win 63% and lose 37% on each split hand.

That's a significant decrease in the number of hands won simply because if you split, you will often end up with less than 20 on both hands.
