Gambling is considered a behavioral addiction because it shares many similarities with substance addictions, such as the release of dopamine in the brain's reward system. Similar to substance addictions, individuals with gambling addiction can experience withdrawal symptoms and may continue to engage in the behavior despite negative consequences.
