I have been wondering why star players performed creditably in their respective clubs but perform poorly anytime they are recalled by their country's team to come and play in national matches such as CAF, FIFA world cup etc. We their fans feel disappointed when see how they have been performing excellently which earned them good rate in their respective club matches but when they are representing their countries, the patriotism is not in their blood. It seems all what they care for is money. They have forgotten that it was their respective countries that gave them the opportunity to become famous stars. This case is very common to African professional footballers.

The performance of star players at the national level can indeed be a subject of disappointment for fans. There are several factors that may contribute to this phenomenon:

1. Lack of familiarity: Players spend the majority of their careers playing for club teams, where they spend a significant amount of time training and developing chemistry with their teammates. When they are called up to the national team, they have limited time to adjust to a different style of play and build an understanding with new teammates. This lack of familiarity can impact their performance on the field.

2. Different tactics and coaching: National teams often have different playing styles and tactical approaches compared to club teams. The strategies employed by national team coaches may not suit the individual strengths and preferences of the star players, leading to a drop in performance.

3. Pressure and expectations: Representing the national team comes with immense pressure, as players are not only representing themselves but an entire nation. This added expectation can weigh heavily on players, affecting their confidence and consequently their performance.

4. Physical and mental fatigue: Star players often have demanding club schedules, playing matches on a weekly basis. This can lead to physical and mental fatigue, making it difficult for players to consistently perform at their best when also called up for international duty.

5. Injuries and lack of rest: In some cases, players may be carrying injuries or may not have had adequate rest between club matches and international fixtures. This can impact their ability to perform at their usual high level.

It is important to remember that not all players perform poorly at the national level. There are many instances where star players excel for their national teams as well. Additionally, it is unfair to assume that all players prioritize money over national pride. While financial considerations may be a factor for some individuals, it is not something that can be generalized to all players.

Ultimately, the reasons behind a player's performance at the national level can be complex and multifaceted. It is important to acknowledge the challenges they face and support them throughout their international career, even during periods of underperformance.

That is your personal observation. Some world class players like Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Beckham, Xavi etc performed successfully both at national and club levels. I don't share the same idealogy with you.
