Wisconsin witnesses increase in problem gambling cases

According to the Council, the Department of Health Services estimates that over 232,000 people in the state suffer from a gambling problem. The average amount of debt is $45,000, though it's unclear if this is directly related to gambling.

With sales in the state reaching $1 billion from $574 million a year ago, the lottery is still one of the verticals with the fastest rate of growth. The Council contends that obtaining the funds to bring in councils and advocates to help further address the problems that callers encounter will help address the rise in the number of calls.
