With $1.55 billion, Tuesday's Mega Millions is now the third-largest in American lottery history.

Lottery players will have another chance Tuesday night to win the third-largest jackpot in American history thanks to the Mega Millions game. Due to 31 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner, the projected $1.55 billion reward has been steadily increasing for months. The game's grand prize hasn't been won since April 18. The sum gets closer to the record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot a player in California won the year before with each drawing that goes without a winner. The winner who chooses an annuity would get the $1.55 billion prize spread over 30 years. However, most individuals choose the lump sum option, which would be $757.2 million for Tuesday's prize.
