Workers in Atlantic City casino lawsuit complain of poisonous workplace

While the state claimed that outlawing smoking could jeopardize a half-billion-dollar pot of money for the elderly and disabled, a group of Atlantic City casino employees asked a judge on Monday to ban smoking in the gaming halls, citing the harmful effects of working in a poisonous atmosphere.

The city's gambling industry, which depends primarily on the money won by in-person gamblers, has yet to recover from the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, so a decision prohibiting smoking in any of the nine casinos would be a game-changer.
