Wyoming approves new harassment rules on horse racers due to sports betting

Concerns regarding the pervasive harassment of sports professionals, including collegiate athletes, by irate bettors have prompted this action. Although prohibiting prop bets on college athletes has been a widely accepted measure, this hasn't stopped gamblers from expressing their annoyance to athletes, coaches, and support personnel at professional sporting events. Commissioners in Wyoming believe that putting these sports wagerers on the list of involuntary exclusions would address the core of the issue. A straightforward ban on college player prop betting, according to the Sports Betting Alliance, would only drive players to the black market and bring about no real change.

It's great that concerns about the harassment of athletes are being addressed, especially when it comes to the impact of gambling. While the ban on prop bets for college athletes seems like a solution, it might only push gamblers to less regulated markets, potentially making the problem worse. The idea of excluding problematic bettors entirely could be a more effective long-term solution, as it directly targets those causing the harassment. It will be interesting to see how this develops and whether it leads to more comprehensive regulations that protect athletes while still allowing responsible betting.
