Ygam CEO urges “Collaborative Approach” to Gambling Harm Reduction

The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (Ygam) has expressed support for a “collaborative approach” to reduce gambling harms.

Ygam CEO Dr Jane Rigbye has taken this opportunity to reflect on the campaign and her organisation’s work.
She stressed the importance of responsibility and said “the aims and objectives of Safer Gambling Week should be at the heart of everything the industry does every day of every week, all year round.”

However, while Rigbye acknowledged that “concerted efforts to raise awareness and open the conversation” have been undertaken, she believes much more work must still be done.

The charity’s services can and do play a role in gambling harm reduction, she said, but a collaboration between all concerned parties is required to truly make an impact.
“More needs to be done to reduce gambling harms and a collaborative approach is the most efficient way to achieve this,” Rigbye said.
“This includes commitments from government, regulators, operators, charities, trade bodies, academics and all those working tirelessly to prevent gambling harms. Alone we can do a little; together we can do so much
