YieldSec study reveals betting patterns during March Madness gambling period

The legal and illicit online gambling activities during the 2024 NCAA Men's & Women's March Madness US Basketball Tournaments were compared in a study conducted by marketplace intelligence company YieldSec.

According to a study commissioned by the Campaign for Fairer Gambling, up to 73% of social media posts about betting and 78% of video content point viewers to unlicensed bookmakers and casinos.

Studies like this are important to help shape policies and practices. Though gambling should remain an individual's choice, there needs to be reasonable protections. Maun licensing requirements and oversight of promotional activities could help curb some excesses, steer more to approved operators, and allow people to enjoy March Madness or other sports entertainment in a lower risk way.

The bookmakers and gambling platforms that are not able to attract traffic to their platforms can always do such type of things in order to make sure that they are able to get traffic on their platforms and this is the role of the authority to make sure that they can send proper notices to the social media platforms to block such ads from running ads in their country
