A police constable from Las Vegas has been given a 12-year prison sentence by the federal court for committing thefts in three different casinos, amounting to a total of around $165,000. In one of these incidents, the officer was also convicted of threatening others with his department-issued firearm. Caleb Rogers, who has been serving his unpaid suspension in solitary confinement for almost 20 months since his arrest, expressed his apologies prior to the sentencing. His mother, Crystal Rogers, from Toledo, Ohio, informed the judge that although she was not satisfied with the situation, her son had the complete support of his family.
The judge decided to give Rogers a sentence that was shorter than the maximum possible, which is 22 years. In addition to the prison term, Rogers will undergo three years of supervised release and is required to compensate the casinos with $85,310 for the losses incurred.
