Bristol University report suggests gambling marketing increases in the Premier League

There was a noticeable spike in marketing pertaining to gambling during the first weekend of the Premier League season, according to a recent study conducted by the University of Bristol.

According to the study, the number of gambling-related messages has almost tripled since the same time last year, which raises questions about the efficacy of industry self-regulation and its possible effects on fans.

During a single weekend, the investigation tallied 29,145 gambling messages on TV, radio, and social media—a number that has increased from the 10,999 that was recorded the previous year.
