How do you adjust your play if the turn brings an overcard?

When an overcard falls on the turn of a paired board, my strategy shifts. Now made hands like two pair or better are beaten and draws have improved. I check/call more frequently than on previous streets to trap aggressive opponents. The overcard tends to inflate opponents' perception of their hand strength so they often continue betting. If checked to, I check behind with overpairs hoping an opponent bets. If an overcard hits on the river too, some opponents will bluff at pots I have not yet invested in, so I call more then. How do you adjust your checking and calling on the turn and river of paired boards when an overcard falls, seeking to trap and outplay opponents who incorrectly think their made hands are now best?

Having an overcard may make it harder to bluff successfully or extract value. If your hand is weak, think about placing a lesser bet to control the pot size and minimize your losses. Your position in the hand also becomes even more crucial when an overcard appears
