In poker, what is a raise?
A raise in poker refers to a stake that is increased from the preceding wager. When a player raises, they enlarge the pot and force the other players to either call the bet or fold their cards.
As long as bets or raises have already been placed, a raise may be done at any time during the game. For instance, if a player bets $10 to start a game, the second player has two options: either call the $10 or raise it by risking more money, like $20. The third player can either call the $20, raise it further, or fold their hand if the second player raises.
