Well fellas, my two cents is sometimes it is but certainly not often. Most of the time when the flop comes say A K 5 , you are behind the big pairs and big drawing hands. Raising in this situation is likely to cost you money in the long run unless you hit your second pair or set on the turn or river. In position you may want to check-call often and see another card cheaply before raising. Only raise with the small pair if you think you can get value from worse hands or scare away draws. Otherwise, play it safe and just call the flop often.
