MGC observes the under-utilization of responsible gambling tools

State regulators report that the Massachusetts Gaming Commission's responsible gaming resources are largely underutilized.

With the 2011 Expanded Gaming Act, Massachusetts lawmakers legalized casino gambling for business purposes. Up to four commercial casinos could be authorized by the bill. Since then, three more have opened: MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor are resort casinos; Plainridge Park is a slots-only establishment.

According to commissioners, tools that let bettors on sports online "cool off" by momentarily closing their accounts and self-exclusion plans haven't exactly caught on with players.
