Missouri sports betting in limbo ahead of vote certification

Voters in Missouri had the chance to cast ballots on whether or not sports betting would be regulated in the state, but the outcome of the election was less clear-cut than anticipated.

Nearly 3 million Missourians cast ballots in the state's election earlier this month, which featured a proposal to legalize sports betting. Amendment 2, a ballot initiative, would allow up to 22 operators to operate throughout the Show-Me State, allowing sports wagering licenses for all of Missouri's casinos and sports teams.

Missouri's sports betting remains uncertain as officials await the certification of a key vote. The delay has created uncertainty for lawmakers, operators, and bettors, prolonging the legalization process. The outcome will determine the next steps, influencing the timeline and structure of potential regulations.
