Nassau County residents rally against Las Vegas casino establishment

This historic ruling comes after major setbacks caused by the invalidation of a previous lease agreement by the New York State Supreme Court on the grounds that it was in violation of the state's open meeting laws.

Despite these advancements, there is a lot of vocal and strong opposition in the community. The proposed 400,000-square-foot casino, which is the size of seven football fields, is opposed on the grounds that it will overwhelm the town's infrastructure and change the character of the neighborhood with its projected 23,000 daily visitors. When responding to the criticism, Las Vegas Sands pointed out that not all locals were against the proposed casino.
