New Jersey bill seeks to ban college sportsbooks partnerships

The state Assembly of New Jersey passed a bill that would prohibit sportsbooks from collaborating on marketing and advertising with universities and college athletic departments. The bill is now on its way to the Senate.

The bill aims to protect students from seeing advertisements about gambling on college campuses, in online college marketing, or at arenas and facilities used by university athletic teams.

According to this definition, a sports wagering partnership at a public university is an arrangement between a sportsbook or middleman and a university.
