Sandro Tonali faces a significant ban as a result of his gambling addiction.

The 23-year-old midfield player, who joined the Toon for £55m during the summer, confessed on Tuesday to placing wagers on Milan to triumph in matches, in a hearing at the Italian Federation in Turin. In accordance with FIFA Code 26, behavior of this nature can result in players being prohibited from participating in international football for up to three years. Fellow Italian midfielder Nicolo Fagiolo received a seven-month suspension for gambling on matches, although he reported himself, whereas Tonali did not. Brentford sensation Ivan Toney was disqualified for eight months back in May and will not be able to participate in Premier League matches until January 2024.
