Society lottery prize money limits set to be increased in Northern Ireland

A membership organization has announced that society lotteries will soon have more restrictions in Northern Ireland, potentially increasing charitable fundraising in the devolved country.

In a meeting earlier this week, social policy unit representatives from the Northern Ireland Department for Communities put forth a number of increases, according to the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action.

The council has proposed raising the prize limits from £25,000 to £200,000, the maximum amount of tickets that can be sold in a single lottery from £80,000 to £500,000, and the annual sales cap from £25,000 to £2 million.
