Thailand masses see casino establishment as bad idea

It was announced last month that a committee would be formed to look into the possibility of allowing traditional, regulated gaming venues by Thai lawmakers. Other countries in the Asia-Pacific area, such as Macau, the Philippines, Singapore, and South Korea, have more developed gaming infrastructure than Thailand does. Nonetheless, indications point to a growing national willingness to accept integrated resorts.

It's commonly assumed that Thailand will draw bids from some of the biggest names in the gaming industry if it eventually approves regulated casino hotels. The opening of casinos in Thailand may encourage more people to smuggle goods, even though that would be beneficial for government revenue.
