Twitch To Ban Gambling Streams By October 18th 2022

Recently, Twitch sent out a tweet announcing they were banning gambling streams on their platform starting October 18th, less than a month from now. The announcement mentioned that the sites affected will include Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet. In the future, they will continue to identify and ban other gambling platforms from being streamed.

What is everyone's thoughts? Personally, I am bummed not to be able to watch some of my favorite streamers on Stake anymore, however, this could be beneficial as many minors are targeted by these streams.

I am glad they will allow licensed casinos and as well poker and sports betting. This field must be regulated properly, alot of money is flying and taxes must be paid.

Twitch has already banned Stake from streaming long before , when Edward , one of the admin of Stake was streaming and he was banned for using inappropriate word that violated twitch rules and regulations. Twitch is really strict when it comes to gambling , so Stake has continued it's streaming in Dlive , another platform just like Twitch. I am not sure about other sites , as you mentioned there will be policy update on October 18.

That's great news, Twitch has also used word filters on its platform; But if someone gets banned just because of these words, then Twitch will also suffer loss of active members.

But they are ala lossing active members small small. I've never been a member of Twitch before. Let just wait till October18 and see what happens

Hmn!. I understand now. So it is not that twitch wanted to ban all gambling streams on their platform, it is those without liences. Pokers and sports betting would be allowed. But what about Roobet, Stake and Rollbit?. Those are reputable gambling sites. Are they not licensed?.

i think before this step was taken they should have look into it carefully other method they can implement instead of banning gambling platform from being stream.

Twitch might possibly took that decision as a result of complaints bordering on casinos. There are many people whose lives had been ruined as a result of gambling.

I'm sure they will lose so many customers. Many percentages men online now are gamblers especially in Africa here. Many of them will abandon the platform

Twitch can't lose customers. It is a social media. Gaming only formed one part of its section. Before twitch can take such decisions, it must have weigh its possible consequences on its goodwill.

This may not be a good sign. There should be a way to regulate instead of banning. I can believe that there are some people that are underage that are on the website. But whoever can tell, it may because most of these websites do not pay their royalty to the platform.

Twitch had temporarily banned Stake from watching online when Edward, one of the admin of Stake, was doing so. He was prohibited for using inappropriate language that broke the terms of service of Twitch. Since gambling is prohibited on Twitch, Stake has proceeded to broadcast on Dlive, another network similar to Twitch. I'm unsure of other websites.

Though the reasons may be very bad but the fact is that it doesn't guarantee banning. It is always better that there is another platform that was put in place to replace the one that was banned on time.
