I'm a sucker for some classic slot machines and poker. There's just something nostalgic about pulling that big lever on an old-school slot. Crank out the quarters and maybe, just maybe, you'll hit the jackpot.
As for poker, nothing beats a good game of Texas hold 'em. Three card draw is a bit too cutthroat for my taste. I like the social aspect of sitting at a table, chatting with the regulars, and trying to bluff my way to a big pot.
A few drinks in, the limits go up and soon there are huge stacks of chips riding on a "queen-high". The table talker who won't shut up is shouting "split my chips!" How could I resist? Before I know it half my chips are gone, but at least I have a story to tell.
One time I got a little drunk and upped my game to Omaha. That was a mistake. My pocket pairs kept folding to flush draws on the turn. I ended up putting my wedding ring up as collateral, now that's a bet I surely lost. My wife found out about that one on the way home! Me and high-stakes Omaha don't get along. I'll stick to tighter games with friends.
