In poker, a "hole card" refers to the face-down card or cards that are dealt to each player and remain concealed from the other players at the table. Hole cards are an integral part of games like Texas Hold'em and Omaha, where players use a combination of their hole cards and community cards to form their final hand.
In Texas Hold'em, each player is dealt two hole cards at the beginning of the hand. These cards are known only to the player who receives them and are not revealed to the other players until the showdown, where the players reveal their hands to determine the winner.
In Omaha, players also receive four hole cards, but they must use exactly two of their hole cards in combination with three of the community cards to form their final hand.
