When I get a pair of 5s as my starting cards, I am not sure what the best play should be. Folding right away because a pair of 5s is not a strong hand is one option. I could also open bet small and see what happens, hoping someone calls and I get a chance at a bigger pair or three of a kind.
If I check the flop and a 5 comes but someone else bets big, I should likely fold my pair of 5s. Even with two pair now, the big bet means my opponent likely has a stronger hand. So in this case, folding is the wise choice to avoid losing more money. Please share your suggestions and experiences.
